From what I have read it is a joint effort between LAMBA and John Peters from HBA Racing, I am both excited about the fact that we can run an XC race on a local trail system, and at the same time worried about the little things such as being able to pass in some of the tight sections.

It is, it is. Between the meadow, green straights, and double track access road I'm not too concerned about passing opportunities. Almost everything on the front side allows passing since it is green. It we want finish line passing we can extend the race down into the parking lot a little to open it up.

Time Trail on the Saturday before the Scramble and I'm hoping to pull off an informal time trial in May.

I tried to contact the Chamois Time people but was not successful so we are not having anything in that series at Beverly this year.

I will push for a Late May Informal TT on a Wednesday though.

We need volunteers more than anything. People willing to coordinate a subsection of the event. Ambitious people to coordinate the whole event. Something/anything to take the pressure off the event coordinators so they don't burn out and stop helping.

My goals for this year include 1 TT and 1 XC race. Both are on tap. Others are bonus.

The plan is to widen the trails, add gravel and asphalt in various sections, grooming the venue for a criterium; eventually.

Yeah, I've been sweating that aspect a little... with it being in Cedar Rapids I think there will be good numbers.

We're jumping right in here, and appreciate input; especially from folks who race, have put on races, etc.

FORC's advice was stop, drop, and roll; I don't know what that means really :?:

Passing in an XC race is part of the challenge and should be viewed as such. There are ample opportunities to pass at Beverly. It's part of the deal to know where opportunites exist and make sure you're in position at those points in time. Perhaps it's time to put the mountain biking aspect back in to mountain biking. This should be an advantadge for Snoop. I think we should wait as long as possible to publish the course.

That sounds like unofficial advice to me.

For the record, FORC's long standing advice is "Have Fun, Drink Beer". Do that, and pretty much everything else works itself out.

I know there are plenty of places to pass, and with the way IMBCS races go the only time an issue with passing comes up is either Sylvan Island or Sugar Bottom as those are the 2 races with highest # of people in each race. Now to try and rearrange my work schedule as I am currently on-call for that weekend so I can try and race and help out any way possible.

Is the race going to be USAC like the TT last year and officiated my Mark? I know last year he took care of all the registration and results and whatnot's and that seemed to make that portion of the race go so smooth.

Hope you can rearrange to partake in your home area action... the details of the race are in their planning phases right now, so any suggestions / request / etc. are welcome.

the name of the race should be "stop, drop, and ROLL"
and at the finish line you should have to stop, drop your bike, and roll under the finish line
