LAMBA Family Picnic July 11th!

Postby Farmboy » Wed Jun 30, 2010 2:03 pm

Bring your spouses, kids and friends to Beverly Park on July 11th. We'll have group rides for all skill levels and the usual parking lot goings on. Somewhere around 5 or 6 we'll fire up the grills and cook some grub. LAMBA will provide hot dogs, chips, sodas, and water. If you want anything other than that, go ahead and bring it. My family and I are going to bring some treats to share. Feel free to do the same.

So come on out with your families for the afternoon and into the evening. Let's have some good ol' family fun.

We're in the process of making a bean bag toss game. Just need to find something to cut the middle circles out (anyone have a tool we can borrow for that?) Funny how a circular saw doesn't cut circles  Keith saw one of those HUGE slides at a garage sale today, didn't buy it, plus Beverly doesn't have electricity to plug it in at.

I have a jigsaw too. I also have a 4000 watt generator. So buy the damn waterslide and you can borrow my jigsaw. but actually, the water is a bigger problem at Beverly.

I also have a bean bag (corn hole) set.

Anybody have ladder golf?

If no one has done any trimming or debris clearing lately, I should be able to get out Friday night or Saturday to do some work. I guess even if someone goes out in the next couple days, it's a never-ending battle to keep the trails clear. If anyone wants to show up and divide areas to get it done faster, post up.

I don't yet know if my knee will be ready for pedaling a bike by Sunday. Still some minor pain and pressure when I bend it too far and don't want to make it worse so it takes longer to completely heal. But I think I can hike the trails now with little or no problem. Far better than a week ago anyway when I was walking like a peg-legged pirate.

I did mean Sunday. I plan on getting there early (around noon) on sunday to do some setup and some trail work. If anyone wants to join in on that I have a laundry list of things to do.

I will in fact be bringing my grill. So let's hope Ken doesn't predict the weather, and we should be good for Sunday.

Current weather forecast and radar = teh suck.

I was too busy/lazy to go ride or do trail maintenance today. It's currently unclear if I will show up for trail maintenance or riding and hanging out afterward at the picnic. If the weather looks bad for the afternoon, I may walk the trails and do whip/debris removal in the morning.

Update: forecast and radar still suck. The rain looks like it's moving slowly, which suggests we are going to get a soaking when it arrives here. The future radar thing on weather.com predicts rain starting around noon.

I am planning to ride and possibly do some pruning in the 7-9AM time range.

EDIT: Rode a couple laps this morning. Picked up some debris. There are a few minor arm/leg whips here and there that I left for trimming another day. Ran in to a couple other guys who had the same idea about beating the rain.
