Yes it is.
Speed and gearing depends on your energy and experience levels. Some days I pretend as if I have a single speed and no shift options and try and make it up to the flat w/out stopping. Other times I just Low Gear it and pedal fast. It's my Cylocross Hill challenge...the challenge makes me a better rider b/c it's not a "same-old-same-old-make-it-every-time" trail.
It may get re-routed someday, but for now it is challenging for three reasons:
*an easier route would run into a pre-existing trail that was designed poorly and erodes (we don't want that)

*secondly, the challenge creates experience level expectations

*lastly, it will be awhile b4 I have the energy or time to design a gradual bench-cut trail that utilizes the steep hill side to make it to the flat ridge.

Was there yesterday around noon. Not sure I found the whole trail, it appeared to end abruptly, no loop.

The dead end was b/c I connected the 2nd section w/ the 1st and hadn't been out to finish. I am heading out now to try and finish the second section.

P.S.
The above map is a rough idea of how it is laid out. It is my first attempt at drawing on a map. Sorry.

So what do you do during a Tornado watch? We go out to ride Thomas  I asked Keith before we left if he knew where the trail was and he said yeah. So guess what...didn't find the trail, ugh. We came in the back sidef from Hanna. We did end up riding a little bit around the woods then the skies started to get quite dark, so we headed home. Come to find out the mtb trails are what the HBA guys have been using for their Cyclocross training the past 2 years. (well part of the mtb trails I guess) We'll head out there again now that we know for sure where the trailhead is.

I know.
Them riding the Disc Golf paths is a battle I have been dealing w/. Some of the Disc Golfers associate what I am doing w/ the Cyclocross riders, even though I have yet, nor will I interfere w/ their current course. I have no intention of getting in their way. I want to use areas they are not using as to co-habitate. The Cyclocross riders have a right to ride there, but are making things tougher for me in the meantime. I would just like to ask that they be as courteous to the golfers as possible so as not to create any animosity toward bikers.

One of the PRO Disc Golfers approached me today to pick my brain and I assured him and asked him to pass along my intentions to the other disc golfers. He seemed very receptive and agreed that we could work together to preserve the peace.

P.S.
second section is connected to the 1st and complete. As of now, it exists on the old wide disc golf fairway and that is it. From there, you are on you own. Head back to the first section or continue to the right and explore. Eventually it will go right to the ravine and then back up to the next ridge. But for now, settle w/ having the two sections connected.

(Thanx to crrimson for helping today. Great job :D)

I think everyone have been courteous in avoiding each other on the course and letting golfers golf and bikers bike. Except for the drunks out there that get in the bikers way and like to drag big logs on the trails and such.

In the 2 years I have been over there practicing cyclocross I have only had 2 run ins with disc golfers that wasn't pleasant. Most if them just look at us funny riding "road" bikes in the woods.

So what are the trail conditions like after the rain we have gotten, rideable today? Or wait another day?

Very rideable :D

Some of the new bench cuts need more packing and some others need to be widened, but the conditions are good!

The weather was perfect for working on the trails yesterday, Thomas has a lot more area than I originally thought, there could actually be a pretty good sized trail system there. Exciting stuff, hope to see more & help when I get the chance.

I rode the Thomas loops 4 times last night! There were some tree limbs down from the wind the night before; got 'em all off except for the big one pictured. I might have been able to move it aside, but I was alone and didn't want to get stuck under it if something went wrong. May need some attention from a chain saw...

Going to head out there now and try and use my muscles to move it.
I mean, my weight...
