Big tree limb down

Postby iLuvTechnical » Thu Jun 24, 2010 8:34 am

The other night's powerful winds snapped off a big tree limb and it decided to land right smack dab in the middle of the trail. It is located on the tight curve as you are going down and turning left as you go along the ridge (just after the Gigantor Log Skinny).

Would anyone w/ a chainsaw want to be a hero by cutting it out of the way  If not, I may not be able to get to it for awhile.

A huge thank you shout out to DL1030 for cutting that pesky "vertical" tree limb that was in the way at Thomas. As it turned out, it was a much bigger job than originally thought. It wasn't a typical log laying on the the trail that needed a couple cuts and voila, all clear. Oh no, it was a very large limb that snapped off and was fairly vertical. How do you cut that? One cut, then it drops (watch out :o ). Another cut, then it drops, (watch out!) Another cut, then it drops... Well you get the picture. The point is, it is very tricky and quite dangerous.

Thanks Dave

I got there last night just as Dave was taking off. Rode a couple laps with ILT. Visual confirmation exists now that ILT rode the big skinny there.

Thanks guys!!!

If anyone has the energy, time, and/or chainsaw there is another big tree limb blocking the path just after the first log crossing on the flat trail at Thomas.

It was very loud when it fell :o Yes, I heard it b/c I was only about 30 yards away when it came down. I wish I could have seen it too, but hearing it was kinda cool at least.

After all the wind and storms, only one more major object fell. There is another log in the way just before the 6" high log skinny at the top of the tight & windy section. I removed all the other little stuff that came down.

Can anyone get out there and cut those two trees out of the way :?:

(other than those two issues, Thomas is open and in great shape  I even tried to ride it on my 20")

All trees and logs have been removed. No unwanted obstacles left to remove.
Thomas is in great shape
