I wouldn't say Shimano is bad, but Sram seems to have something going here. I've had good luck with Shimano all of my riding years. Sure I've gone through some parts, broken, bent, or otherwise, but that's gonna happen when you beat the $hit out of them.
In the likely event that I invest in a bicycle with shifting capabilities in the future, it will be built with Sram. I wanna try it out, plus I have a friend that works there. I don't get a discount, but I don't think she'd be working there if she didn't believe in the product. Her stable of bikes rivals anyone's that I know, including Jason Teggatz, and I think she has Sram on all of them.
