The Mukluk is quite tempting, but I haven't tried snow biking and I'm not sure what options we have for riding around here other than snowmobile trails. It is probably rideable on dirt, but the slow handling would be a handful. The owner of Healthy Habits in Bettendorf (http://healthyhabitsqc.com/) is planning to order one, so I might be checking it out. I think the Mukluk is due in stock sometime in November.

Ken et al - If you're looking for fat bikes, and want to see more than just one in a shop, come down to World of Bikes. We probably have the largest selection in the area, including the ever popular Surly Moonlander, the fattest of the fat! Adam, the guy you met the other night at the ICORR party swears by fat bikes, year round.

Also, if you watch facebook, there's always the Friday Night Fatty Ride in Iowa City. "Like" the World of Bikes page for details. Usually, there's a dozen or so fatties riding, and I'm sure one of them will let you try theirs out.

Facebook is evil.

Regardless I plan to head to IC for one of these rides soon!

Bike Tech in Cedar Falls also has fatbikes, four of them the last time I checked.

I wanna get down there sometime too. Any night is a good night to ride right now. Rode Squaw / Thomas last night. Left about 9pm. There's more snow under tree cover than you might think. Regardless, very ridable and just the right amount of crustiness where ya hit dirt.
If you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough.

I thought this one looked familiar. Buddy up in Eldridge owns it. He had Tom build it for him a couple years ago. You'll find him out on the gravels though out the winter months. We call it a Pugsdale.
I need more info here...

When I was a kid, I rode bikes. Now I ride bikes and act like a kid. Some things never change.

This guy is riding a Moonlander to the South Pole, and here I was thinking I'm cool riding mine to get beer.
