Mark Patterson (Crank Addict) Passed Away

Postby NoyzSource » Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:14 am

On Saturday, Mark Patterson suffered an aortic aneurysm and passed away. He went by Crank Addict on these forums. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=74

He was a great supporter of all types of riding bikes and will be sorely missed. We will try to keep this thread updated with the information about his service.

I just began getting to know Mark through our weekly Wednesday night rides over the last few month. His charisma and friendliness made me feel very welcome as a new LAMBA member and I will never forget that about him.

If there is anything we can do for the family, please keep us abreast.

John Dulle has organized (or at least shared a plan) for people that would like to honor Mark by riding to the visitation and or the funeral...

The visitation is 4-7 at cedar memorial. I plan to meet some friends at mulligans around 3 to ride bikes to the visitation between 3:30-45. If you can make it great if not I still think it would be cool if people rode bikes. Funeral is Wednesday at 3 at cedar memorial also. After funeral there will be a gathering at Parlor City for food and drinks. There will be a matching band that will march through Czech village to pay tribute to mark and I am guessing this will be bike encouraged event as well.

John

edit...check below for new/modified plans; NOT Parlor City...Cherry Building

I just posted something on Facebook to attempt to organize the same kind of thing. I should have checked here first. I now intend to follow John's plan. I will be riding to the funeral and to Parlor City afterwards.

New plan following the funeral.
NOT meeting at Parlor City. Instead, meeting at the Cherry Building...

Hey scratch parlor city the gathering will be at the cherry building 329 tenth ave se for food and drinks all are invited
John

Immediately following the funeral on Wednesday we will be having a
reception at the Cherry Building (329 10th Ave SE) and will be having
a Jazz Procession (new orleans style) celebrating Marks life through
the streets of New Bohemia. We are hoping for a big turn out of
people and bikes.

I will be riding with you guys. Mark was a huge part of the club, and the friendliest guy I ever met. He will be greatly missed.

I'm not sure if people are starting from someplace but I know there will be some bikes at the funeral. A group is planning to ride downtown after the funeral to the Cherry Building.

I'll be leaving from work and riding over then riding back to work to drive downtown.

I'm batchin' it up this week with Deborah out of town so will miss the service, but the boy and I will be departing via bike at 4:30pm from the Cedar River Trail parking lot at Collins Rd and Cedar Point Rd NE. It's officially off of Werner Ave near the Quality Inn. Just another option if you want to arrive to New Bo on two wheels. Eco Lips Web page advises the celebration will start at 5:30pm.

The Benefit to Celebrate the Greatness of Mark T. Patterson will be held Saturday September 15th at Parlor City from 5PM-2AM, and all proceeds will go to support Mark’s family. There will be a raffle for a New Belgium Cruiser, and tickets will be sold for $25 (max of 200 tickets), available starting the week of 8/27 at Parlor City and local bike shops. The raffle will take place at 9PM, and you do not need to be present to win. A portion of the sales of all New Belgium beer will go to benefit the family also. The Magnetos will be playing and possibly Nassor Cooper. Everyone is encouraged to bike to Parlor City to celebrate the life and legacy of Mark T. Patterson.

So you may have viewed via the facebooks that we planted a red oak in the west meadow of Beverly as a memorial to Mr. Mark, need to keep it protected from the deer (rubs and leaf eating), and watered; so if you happen by this spot please consider adding some water from your bottle or hydration pack to keep it healthy...
